Sony Fashion Show at WPPI
Role: Event Co-Producer
Intro
As part of Wedding & Portrait Photographers International (WPPI), I co-produced a live fashion show in partnership with Sony, hosted by Nigel Barker, internationally recognized fashion photographer and television personality from America’s Next Top Model. The event combined a reception and runway fashion show open to all WPPI registrants, including trade-show-only attendees, and took place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena.
My role focused on live show execution, backstage coordination, and talent support to ensure a polished, high-energy runway experience within a large-scale conference environment.
Objective
Support the successful execution of a high-profile, brand-partnered fashion show by managing runway sequencing, backstage logistics, and talent coordination, while ensuring seamless live production for a large attendee audience.
Challenge
The fashion show was a live, time-bound production embedded within a larger conference schedule, requiring precise coordination between talent, brand partners, venue staff, and production teams. The event needed to deliver a professional runway experience while accommodating a diverse audience and maintaining strict timing within the evening program.
Strategic Approach
1. Runway Sequencing & Show Flow
Supported the development and execution of runway sequencing to ensure smooth transitions between looks and segments.
Coordinated timing cues to align backstage activity with live stage moments.
Ensured the fashion show began promptly at its scheduled start time within the larger event agenda.
2. Backstage & Talent Coordination
Provided backstage coordination for Nigel Barker and participating talent to ensure readiness and smooth movement on and off stage.
Supported talent timing, entrances, and exits to maintain consistent show pacing.
Acted as a calm, organized point of support during live execution.
3. Brand & Production Collaboration
Collaborated with Sony and WPPI production teams to support brand presence and production standards.
Coordinated with venue and production staff to ensure alignment between backstage operations and live stage execution.
Assisted in maintaining a professional experience that reflected both the WPPI brand and Sony partnership.
Execution and Team Coordination
Live Event Support
Supported live production execution during the full event window, including pre-show preparation and runway delivery.
Managed real-time adjustments backstage to keep the show on schedule.
